Mentorship Program

AustCham Beijing's Mentorship Program

Moving to a foreign country in search of employment opportunities can be an intense and challenging process. This task can become increasingly daunting if you are in the early stages of your career and lacking the practice to differentiate yourself from the large number of qualified and experienced people also competing in the labour market.

AustCham Beijing is passionate about supporting those who find themselves in this situation, being able to provide them with the tools and resources they require to enhance their employment prospects.

The Young Professionals membership category grants this opportunity for those intellectually and ambitious driven people under the age of 30 who have a vested interest in Aust-China business.

AustCham Beijing invites those Young Professional members who possess critical thinking abilities, excellent communication skills and demonstrated academic achievement to take part in a newly launched mentorship program.

As a mentee you will benefit from being paired with one of the Chamber's senior members as a mentor. These mentors are successful champions in their field; possessing vast knowledge and expertise that has led them to become top executives in their organizations.

The program will aim at providing both mentee and mentor with a platform to grow professionally in their respective roles.

Some benefits to the mentee include:

  1. Access to a support system during critical stages of academic and career development
  2. Clearer understanding and enhancement of academic and career plans
  3. Exposure to diverse perspectives and experiences
  4. Direct access to powerful resources within a specific profession
  5. Identification of skill gaps
  6. Greater knowledge of career success factors
  7. The foundation of a lasting professional network

Some benefits to the mentor include:

  1. Exposure to an emerging talent pool
  2. Ongoing attention to own career development
  3. The satisfaction of imparting wisdom and experience to others without a huge time commitment
  4. Enhancement of coaching, leadership, management, and recruiting skills
  5. Exposure to diverse thoughts, styles, personalities, and cultures
