AustCham Greater China has lodged a submission to the Australian Government’s ‘Australia in the Asian Century’ White Paper, which will examine Australia’s past and future links with the diverse nations of Asia.
The White Paper, to be released in mid-2012, will consider the likely economic and strategic changes in the region, and set out a series of actions for Australia to take over the next five years, and further policy initiatives to be developed over the next 10 to 15 years.
Joanne Wood, AustCham Greater China Founding Chair said: “Our AustCham Greater submission makes three very detailed recommendations to enhance and deepen Australia’s engagement with China. We urge that the White Paper articulates a long-term and specific vision of where Australia should be in 20 years time and secure multi-partisan support across Federal and State governments for this vision, such that its key features are integrated into policy consistently."
“Sincere thanks to AustCham Beijing and Shanghai members and representatives from other professional, academic and non-for-profit institutions who contributed to the content and drafting of this document.”
