Education Working Group

Chair: Belinda Poole, IDP Education & Tom Hands, Navitas China

This working group aims to broadly represent the needs of AustCham Beijing members in the education and training industries by promoting their business interests. The groups works to increase understanding of regulations, requirements and developments governing the education and training industry in China and Australia, while promoting Australia as the premier international education destination.

The group consists of members from a diverse range of industries in the education sector - Australian universities and schools, Study in Australia, International Schools, Executive Coaching and Language Training. Meetings, conferences and fairs are arranged, relevant to the working group, with group meetings providing a forum for the exchange of information, ideas, and interests amongst private education business and government.

Past Events

Wednesday 9 December: Education Working Group Roundtable took place at the Hilton Hotel, where the group heard from Australian Education International and the Immigration & Citizenship section at DFAT, and had the opportunity to share their own experiences.

Sunday 18 October: To coincide with the 2009 China Education Expo, AustCham Beijing, with sponsorship from IDP Education Limited and Navitas China, held a highly informative cocktail function, with a presentation from Quentin Stevenson-Perks, Counsellor (Education), Australian Embassy. Quentin's key message was that thanks to a well deserved reputation for excellence, Australia's international education sector has weathered the recent international economic turbulence and is set for further growth with China leading the way.
