AustCham Beijing has a strong CSR focus. It continues to develop through member education and our own community outreach activities. AustCham Beijing also collaborates with member companies to make donations and work with their nominated charities. Recent Activities Hairpieces Making Money for the Smile Train
At the ANZA Melbourne Cup 2008 Celebrations, colourful headpieces and fascinators, designed by AustCham Beijing’s resident designer, could be seen all around the ballroom. Proceeds from the sale of these headpieces are being donated to The Smile Train, an international charity that helps children with cleft lips and palates gain access to surgery. Thank you to members and friends who helped raise enough money for four surgeries.
October Clothing & Bedding Drive AustCham Beijing was delighted to make two deliveries around Beijing following the great success of the October clothing and linen drive. The offices were filled with a range of kids and adults clothing, coats, bags, stationery, towels and winter bedding.
On Wednesday 22 October 2008, one van load was delivered to Our Chinese Daughters Foundation for distribution to a range of schools and orphanages in and around Beijing. On Tuesday 11 November 2008, AustCham Beijing representatives visited the Beijing Dandelion School in Daxing to deliver yet another Asian Tiger truckload of goods.
Charity Film Screening for the Library Project AustCham
Beijing was delighted to host a special charity screening of Boomtown
Beijing at Salud on Nanluoguxiang, raising much needed funds for the
Library Project, a Xi'an based charity who donate libraries to remote
communities across China. Directed by Siok Siok Tan, an award winning
executive producer of international documentaries, the film gave a rare
glimpse of the authentic Beijing, its people and their Olympics dreams.
AustCham Beijing donated proceeds from July's Kooka raffle sales to the
Library Project, and thank you for the generous donations from everyone
who attended. |
