Cochlear celebrates 10,000th implant recipient
February 22, 2012
Cochlear, the world’s leading provider of cochlear implant technology, celebrated its 10,000th recipient in China yesterday with an afternoon reception and evening dinner.
Since the first Cochlear implant surgery in China in 1996, Cochlear has continued to provide surgeries and technologies to child and adult recipients across mainland China, as well as in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
In 2005, the total number of Cochlear recipients in China was 2500. In less than seven years, Cochlear China has managed to quadruple this number. This demonstrates the dedication and hard work of the China team and the positive relationship the company has with the Chinese government and health organizations.
The event gathered together over 100 government officials, doctors, surgeons, audiologists and technicians and the first Cochlear recipient. Several “star recipient” children also performed skits, played musical instruments and danced on the evening.
