Tumen River Region Charity

AustCham Beijing has pledged RMB 43,000 (thanks too to Macquarie) in support for the two Tumen River region charity projects, the Tumen River Area Development Initiative and the Tumen River Vocational School. This year, the annual AustCham Ball auctioned off eight bottles of vintage La Tour wine to raise funds for these initiatives, which will go a long way in supporting their capacity-building work in the Tumen region.

Queensland Premier’s Disaster Flood Relief Appeal

In December 2010, Queensland was hit by historical levels of flooding that left thousands of families homeless and caused several billion dollars worth of damage. On behalf of the Australian community in Beijing we send all those affected our sincerest condolences.

To show our support to those in need we nominated The Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal as our Charity for this year’s AustCham Ball and Australia Day Kooka.

Orphanage Without Walls Scheme

Part of AustCham Beijing’s 2011 outreach was to sponsor one child partaking in the Orphanage Without Walls Scheme. With a small budget (RMB 600.000 last year), the association has provided for over 120 children under the Orphanages without Walls program and supported local schools by building central heating systems and dormitories.
